We’re all familiar with the concept of IV infusions. We maybe have seen them in doctor’s offices or hospitals, used to allow medication to seep into veins over an extended period of time. People are even fed via IV, if necessary.
But of late, IV infusions have entered a whole new domain. Now you can use IVs to get your vitamin fix, brighten skin, relieve hangovers, hydrate skin, and so much more.
Celebrities like supermodel Chrissy Teigen have even posted Instagrams enjoying the benefits of IV Infusions.
There’s lots of companies involved in this, from spas to home delivery options, with options like Ultraviv, that infuses IVs with anti-nausea vitamins and medicines to help aid post-food poisoning to Vitaglow, which offers anti-aging infusion. Generally, IV drips are administered by nurses, so there’s no worry in using too much or too little or doing it wrong.
Recently, Women’s Health published a story by Grace Gold, a beauty writer who tried an IV drip for younger looking skin. In the story, Grace reports that within 24 hours of her IV drip, “the fine lines under my eyes seemed smoother, and my cheeks looked rosier and plumper.” While it may not be something she would do every week, she says, it absolutely worked for a special occasion boost.
Which makes me wonder if IV spas and med spas may be the next big beauty THING. We have express extensions salons, as well as those for lashes, blowouts, facials, and peels. Why not those that focus in IV infusions? It’s simply the next generation of going to a spa for a cocktail of vitamins and minerals in your face masque or body treatment — in fact, perhaps there’s a way of doing a combo of all! Whether your need is hydration, energy, or younger skin, there may be one that speaks to you. Plus, imagine the passive involvement — get an IV for better hair, skin and nails while having your hands free to tweet about the weird experience you are having. It just may be awesome.
